The Mirage poker room was one of the longest continuously running poker rooms in Las Vegas until January 25, 2015. That was when it closed for nearly four months. The poker room reopened later in 2015 with a downsizing and remodel.
The old Mirage poker room hosted 19 tables. This room included an elevated high limit platform. As Bellagio, Venetian and Wynn opened high end poker rooms, the games typically reserved for these tables moved on to newer places. The Mirage poker room had no use for all of the space it had available. Mirage decided to move the casino cage into some of the poker room area, adding a new casino bar to the center of the floor in the place of the old cashier. The new Mirage poker room has 12 tables.

Mirage Cash Games
The two most common games at Mirage are $3/$6 Fixed Limit and $1/$2 No Limit Texas Hold’em. The $3/$6 game has been a fixture at the casino since it opened. It its prime, Mirage would also spread a $6/$12 limit game and $2/$5 no limit. These games are nearly impossible to find there now. The Mirage no limit games have a buyin range of $50 to $150 big blinds.
Mirage Poker Tournaments
Mirage offers four daily No Limit Texas Hold’em tournaments. At 11am, 2pm, 7pm and 10pm, there is a $50+$15. Players start with 8,000 in chips and the levels last 20 minutes.
There are two exceptions to the daily tournaments. On Friday at 7pm, there is a $60+$15 tournament that also includes a $25 bounty. Players start with 15,000 chips and the levels are 20 minutes. The Stack is offered at 11am on Saturdays. It has a $93+$27 buyin and starts with 50,000 chips. The levels are 30 minutes.
Mirage Poker Promotions
Mirage takes $1 out of cash game pots to fund promotions. Players earn $100 for four of a kind, $200 for a straight flush and $500 for a royal flush. Four of a kind requires a pocket pair, while the straight and royal flush require the players to use two cards from the hole.
There is also a small bad beat jackpot. Players earn $2 an hour in comps that may be used for food, gift shop, or hotel. Players must be clocked in with MGM Resorts’ MLife card to receive the hourly rate.
Mirage also offers a hotel discount of 20% off to poker players. An average of five hours of cash game action per day is required.
Environment
The Mirage poker room is not what it used to be. It is past its prime, but there are still plenty of reasons to play there. The dealers are well qualified. All tables offer automatic shufflers and comfortable chairs. The Bravo Poker system is used to manage tables.
The atmosphere is rather quiet. Unfortunately, some of the games during the day are of very low quality. The games are far better at night. The difference is even more so at Mirage than most other poker rooms.

What We like about The Mirage
It is nice to have the great Mirage sports book just a few steps away. Many seats have a direct view of the large televisions in the book. Players looking for lower limit action should be satisfied with the Mirage poker room.
Players that give 75 hours of cash game action in a year achieve Pearl in the MLife rewards program. This gives players free parking.
What We do not like about The Mirage
We miss the old days of playing 6/12 limit in a packed room. There was no other poker room like the one at Mirage in its prime. Today, it offers very little to differentiate itself from the other smaller Las Vegas Strip casinos. Its biggest negative is that Mirage charges for parking.
